About the Author: Tyler Vance

Tyler Vance spent six years working as a solar installation project manager and energy consultant in California and Nevada before transitioning to independent writing and research. During that time he oversaw the installation of residential and small commercial solar systems totaling more than 3 megawatts of capacity, and he spent hundreds of hours reviewing utility interconnection agreements, net metering policies, and state incentive programs across multiple markets.

Tyler left the installation side of the industry because he became increasingly concerned about the gap between what sales presentations promised and what customers actually understood about their contracts. He started Solar Estimator Pro to give homeowners honest, math-based tools they could use before signing any agreement — whether a purchase contract, a loan, or a PPA.

Tyler holds a North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) PV Associate credential and a bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies from University of California, Santa Cruz. He continues to consult independently on utility-scale renewable energy projects and tracks state net metering and incentive policy changes as part of his ongoing research.

“Solar is one of the best financial decisions a homeowner can make in the right situation. But 'right situation' depends entirely on the numbers — your numbers, not a salesperson's projection.” — Tyler Vance

Disclaimer

The calculators on Solar Estimator Pro provide estimates based on general industry data, national average utility rates, and the inputs you provide. Actual solar system costs, energy production, savings, and incentive eligibility vary significantly based on your location, roof characteristics, local utility rates, installer pricing, and applicable state and federal programs. Always obtain multiple quotes from licensed installers and verify incentive eligibility with your utility and a qualified tax professional before making any purchase decision.
